The Outfitter KZ team is honored to offer an unforgettable two-day trip to the Dzungarian Alatau mountains.

Over the course of two days, we will explore the attractions of the border town of Zharkent. We will visit an Eastern mosque, the construction and decoration of which were overseen by the Chinese architect Hong Pik. Above the entrance to the mosque, an inscription skillfully written by calligraphers in flexible and seemingly airy Uighur script reads, 'Don’t dry out the shoes you put on and don’t forget the days gone by.'

After a hearty lunch in Zharkent, we'll proceed to the picturesque basin of the Osek River. This river is formed by three tributaries: Big Osek, Middle Osek, and Small Osek. Our next destination is the vantage point providing a panoramic view of the confluence of the Big and Middle Osek rivers from Zharkent. During our time, we will spend a day and a half exploring the valley between the Osek and Burkhan rivers, combining car tours with trekking along the foothills of the Zhetysu Alatau.

The final kilometer and a half to the viewpoint is accessible to hikers. Within half an hour, we reach the panoramic viewpoint of the river confluence. There, we enjoy the expansive views and have a photoshoot before returning to the parking area at the dzhailau.

We then proceed to our overnight lodging spot in the Burkhan River gorge. Making short stops along the way, allowing guests to explore the plateau, our guide sets up the camp, prepares dinner, and we settle in for the night in tents.

The next day, guests enjoy breakfast and a brief walk in the vicinity of the Burkhan gorge. Afterward, we head to the Osek River basin, where, in some places, the landscapes resemble the Aktau mountains of the Altyn-Emel National Park.

We return to the city of Zharkent, have lunch in a cafe and continue our trip towards the southern capital of Kazakhstan - Almaty.
