ITINERARY
Day 1: Exploring Zharkent and the Osek River Basin
Arrival in Zharkent: We begin our adventure in the border town of Zharkent, where we will immerse ourselves in its vibrant culture and history.
Visit to the Eastern Mosque: Our first stop is the stunning Eastern mosque, crafted under the guidance of the renowned Chinese architect Hong Pik. Above the entrance, an elegantly inscribed phrase in flowing Uighur script reads: "Don’t dry out the shoes you put on and don’t forget the days gone by."
Lunch in Zharkent: After a hearty meal in Zharkent, we’ll prepare to explore the natural wonders surrounding us.
Journey to Osek River Basin: Next, we will head to the picturesque basin of the Osek River, which is formed by its three tributaries: Big Osek, Middle Osek, and Small Osek.

Panoramic Viewpoint: We will make our way to a scenic viewpoint that overlooks the confluence of the Big and Middle Osek rivers. The final 1.5 kilometers to the viewpoint is a pleasant hike, taking approximately half an hour. Here, we will take in the breathtaking views and capture memorable photos.
Overnight in Burkhan River Gorge: After returning to the parking area at the dzhailau, we will travel to our overnight lodging spot in the Burkhan River gorge. Our guide will set up camp and prepare dinner, allowing guests to enjoy short stops along the way to explore the plateau. We will spend the night in comfortable tents under the starry sky.
Overnight in Burkhan River Gorge: After returning to the parking area at the dzhailau, we will travel to our overnight lodging spot in the Burkhan River gorge. Breakfast at Camp: Guests will start the day with a delicious breakfast at the campsite.
Morning Walk in Burkhan Gorge: After breakfast, we’ll take a brief walk in the scenic vicinity of the Burkhan gorge, soaking in the tranquility of the area.
Exploration of the Osek River Basin: We will then head to the Osek River basin, where the landscapes in some areas strikingly resemble the breathtaking Aktau mountains of Altyn-Emel National Park.
Return to Zharkent: After a day filled with exploration, we will return to Zharkent and enjoy lunch at a local café.
Journey to Almaty: Finally, we will continue our journey towards Almaty, the southern capital of Kazakhstan.
